Recently, I decided to test Google Veo 3.
But instead of generating another random cinematic scene, I wanted to try something more challenging.
I wanted to see if Veo 3 could keep the same character consistent while moving him across some of the world’s most famous cities.
That’s where Bob The Traveller came in.
If you’ve read some of my previous AI experiments, you’ll already know Bob. He’s the character I often use to test AI tools because he’s perfect for checking character consistency, storytelling, and cinematic quality.
This time, I gave him a simple mission:
Travel from Tokyo to New York, then Paris, the Pyramids of Egypt, and finally Shanghai, all inside a single AI-generated video.
And honestly?
I wasn’t expecting the results to look this cinematic.
Setting Up The Experiment

Everything started with a simple prompt.
Instead of focusing on visual effects or action scenes, I wanted to test transitions and continuity.
Here’s the exact idea I used:
Bob The Traveller walks through the streets of Tokyo at night surrounded by neon lights. With every step, the environment changes. One moment he’s in Times Square in New York. The next, he’s standing near the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Then he arrives at the Pyramids of Giza before finally appearing among the futuristic skyscrapers of Shanghai.
The goal wasn’t simply to generate beautiful locations.
The real challenge was seeing whether Veo 3 could maintain the same character throughout the entire journey.
That’s usually where many AI video generators begin to struggle.
Why This Test Is Harder Than It Looks
At first glance, the prompt sounds simple.
But from an AI perspective, it’s actually quite demanding.
Each city has completely different:
- Architecture
- Lighting
- Atmosphere
- Colors
- Environmental details
Tokyo at night looks nothing like Paris at sunset.
And Paris looks nothing like the Egyptian desert.
So every transition creates a new opportunity for the AI to accidentally change the character.
That’s why I thought this would be a good stress test.
The Generation Process

Once everything was ready, I clicked Generate.
The process itself was straightforward.
One thing I immediately liked was how simple the workflow felt.
There wasn’t a huge learning curve.
No complicated setup.
No confusing menus.
Just upload the reference image, write the prompt, and let the AI do the work.
That’s something many creators will appreciate.
Because honestly, the best creative tools are often the simplest ones.
What Happened Next?

is is where things became interesting.
The first thing I noticed wasn’t the character consistency.
It was the cinematic feeling.
The scenes looked surprisingly polished.
The lighting felt natural.
The camera movement appeared intentional.
And most importantly, the transitions between locations didn’t feel completely random.
Instead of looking like disconnected clips stitched together, the video felt more like a travel sequence.
For a moment, it stopped feeling like AI generation.
It started feeling closer to AI-assisted filmmaking.
And that’s a big difference.
What Impressed Me Most
Perhaps the biggest surprise was how well Veo 3 understood the concept of movement.
I expected location changes.
What I didn’t expect was how naturally some of those transitions would feel.
Tokyo flowed into New York.
New York transitioned into Paris.
And the shift toward Egypt created one of the strongest visual moments in the entire experiment.
The pyramids scene immediately stood out.
The warm lighting and cinematic atmosphere gave the video a much more dramatic feeling than I anticipated.
If I had to pick a favorite part of the generation, it would probably be that sequence.
The Biggest Weakness
Of course, no AI video model is perfect.
And Veo 3 still struggles with one challenge that affects almost every video generator today:
Character consistency.
Most of the time, Bob remained recognizable.
But during certain transitions, small details shifted.
Nothing major.
Yet enough to remind me that AI still has work to do before maintaining perfect continuity across long sequences.
This isn’t a Veo 3 problem specifically.
It’s currently one of the biggest challenges facing the entire AI video industry.
What I Learned From This Experiment
The biggest lesson wasn’t about Veo 3 itself.
It was about how quickly AI video creation is evolving.
A few years ago, creating a cinematic travel sequence across multiple countries would have required:
- Cameras
- Locations
- Actors
- Editors
- Production teams
Today, a simple prompt can generate something surprisingly close to that vision.
That’s honestly kind of crazy when you stop and think about it.
The technology still isn’t perfect.
But it’s improving at a pace that would have seemed impossible not long ago.
What’s Great

✅ Creative storytelling potential
What Needs Improvement
❌ Character consistency across longer scenes
❌ Occasional visual changes during transitions
❌ Limited creative control in certain moments
❌ Some scenes still feel unpredictable
Quick Summary

| Overall Experience | Highly Impressive |
Final Thoughts
Testing Google Veo 3 with Bob The Traveller turned out to be one of the most enjoyable AI video experiments I’ve done recently.
What started as a simple consistency test quickly became something more interesting.
Watching a single character travel across Tokyo, New York, Paris, Egypt, and Shanghai inside one AI-generated sequence felt like a glimpse into the future of content creation.
The technology still has limitations.
But the gap between imagination and production keeps getting smaller.
And after this experiment, it’s clear that AI video generation is moving far beyond simple animations.
It’s starting to become a genuine storytelling tool.
For creators, filmmakers, and AI enthusiasts, that’s an exciting place to be. 🎬🌍🤖
